This program includes classroom study & supervised clinical practice in health care facilities. The patient care technology student must complete the prescribed program of study, clinical experience, & pass the state certification for CNA and national certification for Patient Care Technology/ Medical Assistant. Units of study include Nurse Aide, Anatomy and Physiology, Medical Terminology, ECG Technician, Phlebotomy, Dosage Calculations, Computer Concepts & Medical Assisting. Job duties: perform administrative and clinical duties under the physician's direction. Administrative duties may include scheduling appointments, maintaining medical records, plus billing & coding information for insurance. Clinical duties may include taking and recording vital signs, taking medical histories, preparing patients for exams, drawing blood, and administering medications by physician's information. Mandatory criminal background check and drug screening are required. All applicants must pass the HESI exam with minimum requirements for acceptance into this program.

Schedule HESI entrance exam and pay fee as soon as possible or submit acceptable ACT score of 19 in reading and 19 in math. The HESI entrance exam is $40.00 and must be paid in order to reserve a spot. This fee is non-refundable. After paying and scheduling, you will be given a reminder sheet with your time and date for the test. If you are a no show for your scheduled test time, you forfeit the $40 payment. You will then have to pay $40 and reschedule the exam.
